I’m pleased to provide my observations and remarks about a previous tour to Tanzania and Kenya.
To begin, words from Karen Blixen, from Out of Africa
“There is something about safari life that makes you forget all your sorrows and feel as if you had drunk half a bottle of champagne —bubbling over with heartfelt gratitude for being alive.”
So very true, those words. I’ve been blessed with an abundance of travel experiences….to Libya and Italy at age 16, living in Europe for 6 years during my 20s, and the opportunity to visit 5 continents during my 25+ years in the travel industry. None of my previous travels prepared me for the pure joy of Africa.
In 2008, “Dacing Matt” Harding became a YouTube sensation with his videos showcasing both his arguable dancing abilities and his amazing travels. His first video was posted in 2005 as a result from his 6 month, 17 country backpacking trip as a departure from his game developer desk job. Currently his video has 39 million views and has sparked plenty of copycats.
Now, 2011 brings us Rick Mereki, who is an Australian filmmaker commissioned by the student travel agency STA Australia, has created a series of three one minute long videos in his campaign “Move, Learn and Eat.” Mereki’s videos, with the help of his buddies Tim White and Andrew Lees, will have you itching with the travel bug before the end of the first clip.
Filmed in 11 countries over a span of 6 weeks, these videos are sure to inspire anyone to do as the title suggests – move, learn and eat.

When you think of “cruising” you picture massive ocean liners, fancy restaurants, swimming pools, casinos, nightclubs and a lot of people on board. While cruising has always proven to be exciting and fun, it’s also known to be an escape of a grandeur scale—one of entertainment and nightlife. But what if you want a vacation that’s more intimate, more sophisticated, and more of a relaxed atmosphere with an enlightening experience? That’s what River Cruising can offer it’s travelers. It’s a way to really experience Europe, be immersed in the local cultures and explore hidden treasures along the countless ports where massive cruise ships cannot enter.
