I recently had the opportunity to travel with AMAWaterways on their Melodies of the Danube. We began in Budapest, Hungary and ended in Vilshofen, Germany, with many ports visited in between.
The room was very nicely appointed and sparkling clean. To my surprise I found umbrellas in the closet. (Nice touch) They had walking sticks for their guests and even some were equipped with a small fold down chair to rest. They had bicycles onboard for anyone who wanted to take a spin in the ports we visited. They absolutely thought of everything for every type of traveler.
I recently traveled with Avalon Waterways (a Globus family brand) on their Capitals of Central Europe itinerary. It was a beautiful 10 day trip from Prague to Budapest on the suite ship, the Avalon Panorama. The Avalon Panorama is pretty much a mobile 5 star hotel. In fact, it’s better than a 5 star hotel because with Avalon, you get to wake up in a new city every morning. From the wall-to-wall open air windows, classy modern decor, and full bathroom, you’ll find it’s hard to leave when your trip is over.

Their fleet consists of six remarkable ships, with passenger counts ranging from 296 to 540, and their passenger to staff ratio is practically one to one, so no other cruise line comes close to providing the extraordinary personal service one encounters on Silversea. This past New Year’s we decided to take our family on a Hawaiian cruise. Naturally, we chose Norwegian’s Pride of America to embark on this adventure. My two young boys were thrilled with the idea of traveling to Hawaii and looked forward to the many activities that both Hawaii and the Pride of America had to offer.
