This summer, I took the 7 night Royal Caribbean Western Caribbean cruise with my 7 year old son and my husband. We were so excited to have fun and relax! We were so happy that it started in Galveston, which is just an hour drive from our house.
The first day on the trip was a leisure day, as most flights from the U.S. arrive at odd hours, and my fight from Houston was no exception. I arrived late in the evening around 9pm, and was met by a Globus representative after clearing customs and immigration. After waiting a couple of minutes for other participants of the tour, we finally arrived at our hotel, the San Jose Wyndham Herradura, shortly before midnight. We met our Travel Director Jorge for a brief explanation of the following day’s activities.
When it came time to pick a trip, I chose the 10 Day Best of Hawaii from Trafalgar, because it had always been my mom’s dream to go there. We were both full of expectations and ready for exciting adventures as we landed in Honolulu on Oahu Island, after an 8 hour nonstop flight from Houston. A smiling Trafalgar agent greeted us at the airport Hawaiian style, with flower Leis, and guided us to the baggage claim area where porters were waiting. Next, a shuttle drove us through the streets of Honolulu and along the infamous shores of Waikiki beach to the Marriott Waikiki Beach Hotel, where we would stay for 4 nights. After checking in and taking in the breathtaking view, we joined the group for a welcome reception where we met our fellow travelers.
This summer, I had the opportunity to take a tour of Cape Cod, The Islands, and Newport with Tauck. Our program began at the luxurious Lenox Hotel, a prestigious boutique hotel in the heart of Boston, where our group was each introduced to one another before going to an elegant steak dinner at Grill 23 & Bar. We had an early start the next morning, so it was very convenient that the restaurant was only a 10 minute walk to our hotel, although we took the motor coach.
Just west of my home state of Texas sits the beautiful state of New Mexico.
I took a fascinating journey through this spectacular state on the Tauck tour, New Mexico – Land of Enchantment. My 8 day adventure began with a small disappointment but ended gloriously. The tour began in historic Albuquerque. After spending a night at the glorious Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort, we set out, predawn, the next day for the famous Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, where we joined thousands of people from around the world to witness the launching of an amazing array of hot air balloons. However, the weather did not cooperate, and it was too windy for a launching, but at least we had the experience of being there. Tauck is a deluxe tour company, and they can do almost anything for their clients…except control the weather (:-). All was not lost however, because Albuquerque has a lot of other things to offer a traveler.
