SALZBURG, Austria — In one of its most ambitious product launches since Adventures by Disney was founded 10 years ago, the tour brand earlier this year announced that it would introduce river cruises in 2016 in partnership with AmaWaterways. And not more than a month after unveiling the river cruises, Disney was adding departures to meet what has clearly been a strong response to its new offering.

Disney Announces Plans for Star Wars Day at Sea 2016

Anyone familiar with the Disney name will recognize them as one of the top providers of family-friendly entertainment, and that attitude and reach extends to their cruises.

Disney Cruise Line has just announced plans for Star Wars Day at Sea in 2016. Eight different special sailings in the Western Caribbean will host a Star Wars Day while they are out at sea. This event marks the first official appearance of Star Wars characters onboard a Disney Cruise Line ship, and along with it, a complete list of activities for Star Wars fans of all ages.

When you hear the name “Disney,” you might think of any number of things. Mickey Mouse, Steamboat Willie, and a number of other classic short cartoons of Walt Disney’s design. You might think of the full-length animated features– from classics like Cinderella and Snow White, to the revival of yearly animated features in the late 1980s and 1990s that produced such critically-acclaimed hits as Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, to the computer-animated films Disney produced in conjunction with Pixar, like the Toy Story movies and Wall-E. Or you might think of the theme parks, Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida.
